Georgian PM says 800 MW worth of energy projects to be implemented

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday said energy projects with a total capacity of 800 MW would be implemented in the country to utilise renewable energy resources.

Kobakhidze noted the Government had already established specific average median prices in each category to determine which energy projects can be implemented.

This approach gives the Government an opportunity to identify more renewable energy and utilise more total installed capacity to offer sector projects at a fixed rate determined through auctions in a competitive environment. This approach will be very beneficial for the energy sector and promote the competitiveness of implemented projects”, he said.

The PM added the Ministry of Economy had already started developing a normative base for the purpose.
